Narcotics Control Department belongs to the Regional Bureaus of Health and Welfare of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Narcotics Control Department conducts investigation on drug crimes, supervision, instruction, inspection against hospitals, pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies that handle medical narcotics and psychotropics, and awareness activities for drug abuse prevention.
